Why It Matters
This collection redefines professional-to-evening wear through a fresh lens of sophisticated sensuality.
In the misty grey room of a Paris venue, seated on plush benches surrounded by smoky mirrors, fashion’s elite witnessed more than just a debut—they saw the birth of a new professional dress code. Haider Ackermann’s first collection for Tom Ford masterfully bridges the gap between power dressing and sensual sophistication, creating a new language for professional presence.
“He is the nightlife, I am the morning after,” Ackermann declared, setting the stage for a collection that transforms Ford’s signature glamour into something more contemplative, more lived-in. The show opened with impeccable workwear pieces—primarily in leather, executed in a controlled palette of black and white. These aren’t the aggressive leather looks of decades past—instead, Ackermann offers supple, architectural pieces that command respect while maintaining sophistication. A single touch of deep burgundy lipstick provided the only color accent, suggesting the lingering evidence of the evening before.
Mid-show, the palette expanded into delicious pastels (lilac melting into mint green, punctuated by saffron yellows and shifting blues.) The strong-shouldered suits in various hues pay direct homage to Ford’s signature silhouette while speaking to contemporary needs.
The evening wear portion translated Ford’s beloved menswear into contemporary womenswear: deconstructed smoking, beaded fringe gowns in lilac, and textural gray pieces that maintain sophistication while embracing innovation. These are clothes for women who command attention not through flash but through presence—a philosophy that aligns perfectly with contemporary professional leadership that we embrace at Héloïse.
Ford’s presence in the front row and his embrace of Ackermann after the show symbolized more than just a passing of the torch; it represented the evolution of power dressing itself. This collection proves that professional style can be powerful and nuanced, commanding and contemplative, ready for the boardroom and beyond.
